About the Regional Economic Development Through Immigration (REDI):
The Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) pilot program is a Government of Ontario initiative that helps communities outside of major urban centres attract and retain skilled international talent. The program supports regional economic development by addressing persistent labour shortages and demographic challenges through immigration.
As one of four pilot communities, REDI provides communities like Sarnia-Lambton with access to pathways under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), enabling eligible employers to connect with international workers already in Canada on a temporary basis. By supporting local hiring needs and long-term settlement, REDI helps foster inclusive growth and strengthens the economic resilience of Ontario’s smaller and rural communities.
