Salary $30.00 – $32.00 /hour

Position Overview
The Program Assistant plays a key support role in ensuring the success of a program designed to assist newcomer job seekers and entrepreneurs in Lambton County. This position includes administrative duties, direct services with newcomers, creating marketing content, and working closely with the Program Coordinator to facilitate the smooth operation of newcomer-focused programs. The role includes supporting the logistical and operational aspects of the program, while also providing direct support to newcomers seeking employment and business opportunities.
Event planning will be critical in this role, through organizing events such as information sessions, employment networking events, and workshops.
The objectives of the role are to support newcomer employment training and connections with local employers by strengthening workforce networks and skills.

Please note: this position with Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership is contingent on pending funding approval.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative Support: Assist the Program Coordinator in the day-to-day operations of the program by handling administrative tasks, managing calendars, and ensuring program timelines are met.
- Marketing & Communications: Create marketing materials, including flyers, newsletters, and social media content, to promote the program and engage both newcomers and local employers.
- Event Planning Assistance: Support the planning, coordination, and execution of events, including workshops, training sessions, and employer engagement activities.
- Employer & Newcomer Correspondence: Serve as the point of contact for both employers and newcomers, responding to inquiries, providing program information, and facilitating connections.
- Direct Newcomer Support: Provide direct services to newcomers, including resume screening, job search assistance, and guiding them through available internal and external services and resources.
- Data Management & Reporting: Assist in tracking program participation, outcomes, and feedback, compiling data to support program evaluation and reporting.
Skills we are looking for:
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Experience in administrative support, employment services, customer service, or related roles.
- Strong marketing skills to create promotional assets including digital marketing and print
- Proficiency with client case management and building exceptional relationships
- Demonstrated excellent communication (oral and written) skills to interact effectively with clients, target audiences, and the public are all essential
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of newcomer services and employment support processes is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
Qualifications
- College diploma in marketing, business administration, human resources, and/or related field
- 2-3 years experience in a related position
- A valid Ontario driver’s license and use of a vehicle
