SLEP Welcomes New Vice President of Economic Development

Sarnia, ON – The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Hesam Houryaband as its new Vice President of Economic Development. Hesam brings a wealth of international experience and leadership to his role, where he will be responsible for overseeing strategic programming and managing investment attraction, as well as leading initiatives that promote business retention and expansion within Lambton County.

Hesam’s extensive background in international, political, and diplomatic affairs, as well as public relations, marketing, and customer service, makes him well-suited to drive SLEP’s mission to foster economic growth in the region. His career spans both public and private sectors, with significant experience in multicultural environments. In his new role, Hesam will serve as a key liaison for businesses evaluating Sarnia-Lambton as a prime location for investment, ensuring the region remains competitive globally.

Before joining SLEP, Hesam worked for Research On Investment (ROI), an economic development consulting company, where he held several senior leadership positions. He also played a pivotal role in assisting regional economic development organizations, including acting as a direct in-market representative for organizations such as the State of Florida’s trade and investment agency, West Midlands UK, and the Dubai Airport Freezone Authority. His expertise in facilitating international trade missions will bring valuable insights to his work in Sarnia-Lambton as he spearheads initiatives to attract investments and promote local business growth.

Hesam holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy, an honorary PhD in International Relations, and a doctorate auditor in International Relations and Diplomacy. Fluent in English, French, and Persian, Hesam’s language skills will also help build stronger relationships with international partners and investors.
